The New Orleans Pharmacy Museum is located at 514 Chartres Street in a classic creole townhouse originally constructed in 1823 for the first licensed pharmacist in the United States, Louis Dufilho, Jr. Since its founding in 1950, the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum has been acquiring, preserving and interpreting an extensive collection of artifacts and resources documenting the history of pharmacy and medicine in the 19th and early to mid-20th centuries, with a particular focus on New Orleans and Louisiana. With two floors of exhibits containing thousands of artifacts, a beautiful private courtyard, and a gift shop, the Pharmacy Museum is a must-see for medical professionals, history buffs, lovers of architecture, and everyone in between!
